Seated Male in Charcoal and white pensil by Bill Meuser

This is last nights drawing. I am really beginning to like this medium. It is a quick way to get detail in the lit areas as well as the shadows. Tomorrow I head for New Mexico. I hope to see the Ghost Ranch where Georgia O'Keef lived and painted. I also want to experiment with some landscape oil painting of my own.

Portraits 2

You've met Lilly. Here are he parents Mike and Lisa. I'm not showing the photo. It is blurry and has horrible color. I wanted to see if I could still get a good drawing out of a bad photo. I 'm fairly pleased. My plan is to do a few portrait drawings, practising getting the likeness down and then maybe move into paint. I'd love to have a live model, but it is hard to find someone to sit for hours while I draw.

portrait

This is a portrait of Lilly McCoy. She and her family are very good friends of mine. She was good enough to pose for a photograph for me with the intention of turning it into a portrait. I may attempt to try this in oils as well.

Charcoal and white pencil on grey paper

This is from this past Wed. I tried a different medium. I'm not sure but I think I like the red charcoal better.

Childhood Idyll, William-Adolphe Bouguereau

I loved this painting since the moment I saw it, so when it came time to try and copy something, I thought of it first. I really want to get good at portraits, so my main goal here is to capture the girls likeness. I think I am doing OK however it has taken me about 12 hours to do this much.

study of a cast painting

I found this cast painting on the internet a while back. Today I got the paints out and copied it. Here are the results. I couldn't find the original when I searched for it today, so I can't show it, or tell you who painted it. I enjoyed painting today and hope to do more soon.

reclining male

Last night our model was a male that is a really good study for seeing the bone structure under it all. I struggled at first but feel like I pulled it together pretty well in the end.
