Could summer be winding down already?!

I'm sorry about the glare on these photos. I could not get a glare free picture this afternoon to save my life!
Thur. night it snowed. Friday was cloudy and cold. I stopped at NCAR after work and painted this scene with the clouds low.

Saturday after a bike ride, I went back to the same spot. The light seemed very cool and very different than the day before.

I'm hoping I don't have to tell you this is rushing water.
Painted in Boulder canyon around a very popular climbing spot.

This afternoon I painted up the hill beside the house. the light seemed very interesting.
First thing this morning I attempted this quick paintings of some overhanging rocks.
A bunch of climbers were hanging around. A quick gesture I wiped out after taking this photo.

Good Figure

I put another three hours into this on Weds. I am pretty happy with how it turned out.
I had Weds afternoon off, so before figure I painted this view from Sawhill Ponds.
Today Sharon and I went up Jones Pass again. This was my best of the day.
On our way home we stopped in Clear creek for another quick one.
Friday was the Art Walk in Louisville. After hanging my new batch of paintings, I went outside and attempted to paint "Nina's flowers and gifts" Store front.
This was the first painting of the day this morning. I put it last because I am not sure if I like it or not. There was a lot of pretty colors.

Here is a reminder of the opening tonight. Below see some of my paintings from the last two weeks.
Today I painted from the driveway. If this looks familier, it's because I have painted this view numerous times.

This is from earlier this week. it is a very quick study from the top of my hill as the sun was going behind the mountain.
This house is one I remodeled years ago. the clients are some of my favorites. It took 2, 2 hour sessions to paint and is on a 16x20 panel.
My friend Ian posed for us 2 Wednsdays ago.
Here we have a still life start. I may or may not paint on it more. I love being outside too much.

Boulder County Open Space paint out

Yesterday was the first of many paint out Boulder County Open Space is hosting. It was at Walden Ponds. At the end of the summer we can enter paintings done from any one of the many Boulder County Open Spaces.
This afternoon the weather was quite unsettled. So I set up my canopy on the patio and painted. It rained a couple of times while I was painting.

 Here is the painting.
 This is from Weds night.

a little color?

I painted these flowers on Thurs. evening at the base of the foothills. I tried finding out what they are, with no luck. Any ideas anyone?
It was nice to work in some yellows and oranges for a change.
Sat morning I was driving along Gross Dam Rd. and saw these wonderful low clouds. I quickly set up and whipped this one out. The clouds had cleared in about 45min. It was a good challenge.
Then I headed over to Gross reservoir.

Gross Dam Rd Paintings

This morning I got up early and headed to this spot on Gross Dam rd. I have admired this scene for a long time and today was my day to paint it. The morning light gave me a treat this morning. I hope I have done it Justus.
At 10am I had my first Plein Air student. This is the result of the demo I gave. We were focusing on how color and value change as things are further from you. The sun kept going behind the clouds. So, it was challenging painting conditions to say the least.

I painted this figurine I bought the other day on Friday. It was a fun exerize to try and make it look like a real swan in more of a natural setting.

Painting the house instead of pictures

I decided I better get to painting the house this weekend. If I get it done early in the season I can paint guilt free the rest of the year. I did manage to get a couple done this week. First from figure and second is at the bottom of the canyon. The trees are budding and the colors are coming out.
