If I had a clever title, it would go here

I have painted these trees a few times, but never with snow. The sun was coming in and out, but I was able to catch a bit of the shimmer that was happening when it was out.

I painted a couple of figurines this week. This one goes along with the season.
 A little clowning around.
Sunday I joined a figure group for this six hour pose. I went really big with this one at 24x36. It was a little intimidating at first, but turned out to be a whole lot of fun.

Art in winter

This first painting is the result of an Idea I've had for awhile. I wanted to paint a steaming hot cup of something. After some failed attempts to get steam with hot water and ice, I got some dry ice. This didn't work exactly like I planed. The steam bubbled out of the water and spilled over the edge kind of like you'd imagine the steam would act in a witches cauldron. I went ahead and painted any way,  trying to imagine what the steam should look like if it was drifting up. I may try again sometime in the future. I am thinking of bringing a hot cup of Joe outside on a cold day.
This is from our Study group at the studio.
 Wends. night.
Friday afternoon at East Boulder rec center.
On our property on Sat. afternoon. I really like what the light was doing.

What a great surprise!

Friday was the opening for Boulder County Open Space's juried plein air art show, "Outdoor Creations", at The Great Frame up in Longmont. When I got there I was surprised and thrilled to find out my painting of the Walker Ranch homestead won best of show.
Yahoo!
Friday before the opening I stopped at Saw hill Ponds to catch some fall colors.

This morning was rainy, windy and cold, so I painted some more fall colors from the front seat of my truck.

This afternoon instead of fighting the weather, I decide to spend some time in my studio and paint a self portrait.
and of course, the Weds. night figure.

Could summer be winding down already?!

I'm sorry about the glare on these photos. I could not get a glare free picture this afternoon to save my life!
Thur. night it snowed. Friday was cloudy and cold. I stopped at NCAR after work and painted this scene with the clouds low.

Saturday after a bike ride, I went back to the same spot. The light seemed very cool and very different than the day before.

I'm hoping I don't have to tell you this is rushing water.
Painted in Boulder canyon around a very popular climbing spot.

This afternoon I painted up the hill beside the house. the light seemed very interesting.
First thing this morning I attempted this quick paintings of some overhanging rocks.
A bunch of climbers were hanging around. A quick gesture I wiped out after taking this photo.

Good Figure

I put another three hours into this on Weds. I am pretty happy with how it turned out.
I had Weds afternoon off, so before figure I painted this view from Sawhill Ponds.
Today Sharon and I went up Jones Pass again. This was my best of the day.
On our way home we stopped in Clear creek for another quick one.
Friday was the Art Walk in Louisville. After hanging my new batch of paintings, I went outside and attempted to paint "Nina's flowers and gifts" Store front.
This was the first painting of the day this morning. I put it last because I am not sure if I like it or not. There was a lot of pretty colors.
